Best of Butterflies and Grab your Greetings

Hello,

I had a lovely day on Saturday with an Open House Event to launch the fabulous new catalogue. Everyone who came along could complete a couple of quick make'n'takes (a bit squashed at the table!), but I think a good morning was had by all. Further down this post I will show you some cards I made to show my guests on Saturday.

A little bit of news from Stampin Up. Firstly the Best of 25 Years stamp set for July is a lovely set of butterflies, click this link to see the details. These Best of 25 Year stamp sets are available from their launch month until the 31st March 2014 or while stocks last.

And secondly, Grab your Greetings - there are 3 sets of greeting stamps from the new catalogue (they were also in the previous catalogue) which can be purchased at a discount of 25% from now until the 31st July, details of the sets here. I think a greeting is the finishing touch on a card.

Here are three cards I have made using the new Soho Subway Designer papers. Picture quality not that good, lots of shadow, but here goes .....

I have used the new colour Crisp Cantaloupe for the base card and to stamp the sentiment on this one. The swirl is stamped in Early Espresso. The sentiment is a new stamp set Label Love and has a matching punch Artisan Label.

The base card above is a new colour Baked Brown Sugar and the background is CrumbCake embossed with a new folder Modern Mosiac. The embellishments have been made with the Mosaic punch and a small stamp from the Mixed Bunch set.

And on this final card showcasing the Soho Subway papers, the greeting is again from the Label Love stamp set and the Artisan Label punch. The numbers paper has been embossed with the Houndstooth folder and the base card is Island Indigo.

Back soon.

Best of Flowers - Bouquet

Here is my fourth and final card in this Best of Flowers series.

As in the previous cards I have used Staz-on ink to stamp the images, and coloured the flowers and leaves of the bouquet with markers.

The base card is Pink Pirouette covered with paper from the current Designer Series Paper Stack. The patterns are are changing on these stacks in the new catalogue and will be available in each of the refreshed colour ways, very exciting!

Details of the Best of Flowers 25th Anniversary set for June can be found here. There will be another 25th Anniversary set of stamps launched in July, so watch this space.

Best of Flowers - Daisy

My third card in this current set from Best of Flowers released this month, details here, uses the pretty little daisy head. Very useful as the 1 1/4" scallop punch fits it perfectly.

For the background panel I stamped daisies onto Whisper White card using black Staz-on ink. I stamped more daisies onto spare card and cut them out with the punch as above, inking the edges and colouring the centres with Pink Pirouette ink and marker pen. The leaves are punched with the three step bird punch. The second and third daisies are fixed to the front panel with foam dimensionals, tucking the leaves under, adding a few pearls to finish.

Back soon, with the fourth and final card in this set.

Have a good week.

Best of Flowers - Daisy Silhouettes

Here is my second card using the daisy silhouette from the Best of Flowers stamp set.

This is a 12cm square card, and the silhouette daisies have been stamped in black Staz-on ink. To make it easy to line up the images I stamped the daisies once in the bottom left hand corner of the topper, turned the card stock clockwise and stamped again in bottom left hand corner, turn again and stamp again etc.

I used Whisper White card for stamping and dabbed colour onto the card using Pink Pirouette ink and the large stamping sponge.

Card used: Pink Pirouette, Whisper White, Basic Black, Silver Glimmer Card.

Back in a few days with my third card.

Best of Flowers - Hydrangea

Over the next couple of weeks I will be showing some cards made with a new set of stamps launched by Stampin' Up in celebration of their 25th Anniversary. A new Best of 25 Years stamp set will be released each month from June until October (5 in total) and they will be available until March 2014. Each set will have 3 - 5 images and will contain 1 new image with the others being favourites from the last quarter century. The sets are all clear mount and cost £13.95. To see the full set of stamps click here.

The June Best of 25 Years set is called Best of Flowers, and here is my first sample with apologies for the picture quality, I need a lesson in photography!

I stamped a pastel background with Pink Pirouette ink and the hydrangea image from the set. I then stamped the hydrangea again using black Staz-on ink onto a Whisper White card topper, and coloured this with markers. I added colour around the main image by dabbing on some Pink Pirouette ink using one of the large stamping sponges.

Card colours:  Whisper White, Basic Black, Pink Pirouette
Inks:  Pink Pirouette, Black Staz-on
Markers:  Pink Pirouette, Certainly Celery

Serene Silhouettes with Everything Eleanor

My card today is a  style I have seen recently referred to as an A Z fold card.

And taken from another angle I think you can see why it is so called.

My base card is 14cm square and the front has been folded in half (as you would for an easel card) but so that the front folds back on itself, rather than being folded inwards. The card will fold flat for posting, but when displayed the front panel is tucked under the embellishment. To raise the embellishment enough to be able to tuck the front panel under I have used two layers of dimensional foam pads on top of each other behind the right hand side of the scallop circle (leave the left side free of foam pads). It would also be a good idea to use two scallop circles stuck together to strengthen the embellishment so that it doesn't bend when tucking the panel behind.

Colours: Certainly Celery, Rose Red and Marina Mist
Stamps: Serene Silhouettes and Everything Eleanor
Punches: 1 3/8" circle, 1 3/4" scallop circle and Bitty Butterfly
Embossing Folder: Vintage Wallpaper

Back soon.

This and That Journal

Hi,  I have just received my copy of the new This and That Journal purchased as part of the Epic Day This and That Bundle with five products in total. The journal and the accessories will be available to purchase separately in the new annual catalogue from the 1st July, but the bundle is available from now until the end of  May for £29.24 (a saving of 15% on the individual prices). Click here to view the products and if you are interested in ordering the bundle, please contact me (details above). I am offering free shipping direct to your home on this bundle. Due to other commitments I will need to receive your order by Thursday 23rd May.

The picture below shows my first page, together with all the items from the bundle (the journal, rotary stamp, papers, washi tape and stickers).

The journal itself is a substantial book full of sturdy decorative pages with a couple of pockets, one in the front and one at the back, in which you can store notes, tickets, photos etc. It can be used for a less formal scrapbook, a holiday journal, a place to jot down ideas and store clippings, or for anything that takes your fancy.

Have a go!
